Dan helped write and negotiate the EU Artificial Intelligence Act. In his role as a member of the European Parliament, he oversees the artificial intelligence, civil liberties, foreign affairs, and security and defense legislative committees and the Delegation for relations with the United States. Previously, he was a State Counselor for Romanian Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos, with a mandate on e-governance, digitalization, and cybersecurity. He is co-founder of Smart Everything Everywhere, a think tank promoting European digitalization, the founder of K Street Consulting, a boutique consulting company for U.S. companies in the EU, and an expert project evaluator for the European Commission. He is the instructor of DataCamp's "Understanding the EU AI Act" course.
