You can move through the course at your own pace, stopping and repeating as much as you need to fully integrate the course materials.

Are Datacamp Tableau courses free?

No, but you can take the first chapter of any of our Tableau courses for free.

How long does it take to finish a Tableau course?

Our Tableau courses take anywhere from 4-8 hours hours to complete the materials, but you should give yourself a week or two of practice to be able to recall and execute the skills you’ve learned.

Which Tableau course should I start with?

DataCamp’s Introduction to Tableau. This course will teach you the basic concepts and features within Tableau, as well as getting you started with building visualizations and presenting your data.

Is Tableau easy to learn?

Yes. Tableau’s intuitive, drag-and-drop interface is very user-friendly, so it’s easy to assimilate the basics. However, It will prove more difficult to master Tableau's more complex and powerful functions, and you should expect it to take anywhere from two to six months to feel confident executing its various functions.

Should I learn Tableau instead of Excel?

Don’t think of Tableau as a replacement for Excel. While Excel's primary function is to create spreadsheets, Tableau's core function is visualizing data.  Ideally, you should learn both, as they are both major players in business analytics and they can offer a wealth of new insights when used together.

Do I need to know how to code to use Tableau?

No. One of Tableau’s biggest advantages is that you can create the same interactive charts that you can create in R - only much easier.

What else should I learn alongside Tableau courses?

Taking SQL courses along with your Tableau courses is an excellent option. With this combo, you’ll be able to communicate with databases, extract data, and then visualize that data, making you a formidable addition to any data analysis team.
